About the author

Originally from the UK, I started writing pop / folk in 1993, soon after qualifying as a secondary school teacher of French and German. After successfully self-publishing my debut albums (“Peeling Oranges” and “Solitaire”), I started to gig in the UK and USA shortly before purchasing a round-the-world ticket, with the aim of realising a long-standing ambition to travel. I thought I had it all figured out – to send my guitar to Australia and find places to perform there too – but instead a “stop-over” in India lasted for three years, during which time I studied yoga and meditation with Guruji, and began to write Footsteps to Freedom. I recorded twelve of my ‘India’ songs which appear at the end of each chapter of the book on an album called India Dreaming in 2007, shortly before I unexpectedly migrated to Australia with my family.

Although music took a backseat for a decade whilst the universe said it was time to have children, write a book and move to the other side of the planet, I am excited to share that (besides my “day-job” as a teacher and doing my best to practice Kriya Yoga) I am currently preparing for the release of a new album called Divine Romance later on this year. Many of the songs were inspired by Guruji’s talks. It’s a mix of devotional songs: some are funky and upbeat, others are peaceful and inspirational.
